Atari explorer

Atari Explorer was a U.S.-based official magazine published by Atari Corporation from 1985 to 1993. Originally launched as a quarterly in-house publication, it evolved into a bi-monthly, full-fledged magazine offering editorial content aimed at users of Atari's home computer lines, including the Atari 8-bit series, the ST and STe, the TT, and eventually the Falcon.

As an official outlet, Atari Explorer provided a mix of promotional and genuinely useful material. It featured news on product releases, interviews with Atari executives and developers, tutorials, software and hardware reviews, user tips, programming columns, and coverage of Atari-related events. Despite its corporate backing, the magazine often included critical and in-depth reporting, thanks to contributions from respected writers and community members.

The publication transitioned through several editorial teams and design updates, especially after being outsourced from Atari’s direct control in later years. It continued to support the community even as Atari's fortunes declined in the early 1990s. Toward the end of its run, Atari Explorer also featured limited coverage of the Atari Lynx and Jaguar consoles, reflecting Atari’s shift in focus from computing to gaming.
