Ahoy!

Ahoy! was a popular American computer magazine published from 1983 to 1989, primarily focused on the Commodore line of home computers, including the Commodore 64, 128, and later, the Amiga. It was known for its technical depth, high-quality writing, and colorful presentation—setting it apart from many contemporaries in the home computing press. The name “Ahoy!” reflected the nautical branding of Commodore and gave the magazine a friendly, adventurous tone.

Each issue of Ahoy! featured a blend of type-in programs (usually in BASIC or machine language), in-depth tutorials, software and hardware reviews, user-submitted utilities, and columns exploring graphics, sound, productivity, and gaming. The magazine also gained a reputation for its strong editorial standards—offering clear, well-structured articles that catered to both beginner and advanced users.
