Amiga Magazine

Amiga Magazine was Italy’s dedicated monthly publication for Commodore Amiga users, issued by Gruppo Editoriale Jackson from July 1988 until December 1997, spanning 95 issues.

Tailored to the Italian Amiga community, the magazine covered hardware upgrades, software reviews, programming tutorials (AMOS, C, ARexx, assembly), and creative fields like desktop publishing, multimedia content creation, music production, and game development. Each issue featured reader letters, letters from the editors, developer interviews, and demo scene highlights. Contributors included both seasoned writers and passionate users, offering both beginner-friendly news and sophisticated technical insight.

A signature element was the inclusion of a floppy disk bundled with each issue—later evolving into CD-ROMs—containing demos, utilities, shareware, and reader-submitted programs, enhancing reader engagement and extending the magazine’s reach beyond print.

Published during a pivotal period for the Amiga—from the A500 era through the A1200 and CD32—the magazine helped bridge the user base from 8-bit Commodores into the multimedia-rich Amiga generation. As Commodore’s market presence diminished in the mid-1990s, Amiga Magazine remained one of the last Italian Amiga-focused titles, concluding its run in late 1997 after nearly a decade of coverage.

Today, Amiga Magazine is recognized as a key historical reference for Italy’s Amiga users: an Italian-language resource that informed, educated, and connected its community throughout the platform’s heyday.
