The National FS-1300 is an MSX1-standard home computer released in 1985 by Matsushita under the National brand. It is powered by a Zilog Z80A-compatible NEC D780C-1 processor running at 3.58 MHz and includes 64 KB of main RAM and 16 KB of video RAM. The ROM contains 32 KB of firmware, including the MSX BASIC interpreter, and is fully compliant with the MSX1 standard.
The FS-1300 features a clean, compact design with an integrated full-size keyboard and a distinctive gray-silver case. It provides two top-mounted cartridge slots for software expansion and peripherals. Video output options include both RF and composite connections, supporting a 256×192 resolution and 16 colors through the TMS9918 video display processor. Audio is handled by the built-in PSG, producing three-channel sound.
Additional features include a cassette interface for data storage, a Centronics-compatible printer port, and dual joystick ports. It also supported a variety of accessories, including joysticks and cassette recorders. With 64 KB RAM as standard, it was considered a more capable machine compared to earlier National models in the same line.
