FX-750P

The Casio FX-750P is a programmable pocket computer first released in 1983 as part of Casio’s FX-P series, designed to offer BASIC programming in a compact, calculator-style form. Under the hood, it runs on a custom CPU at approximately 768 kHz and includes 4 KB of RAM for user programs and data. Its ROM holds Casio’s BASIC-like language adapted for a small 24×4 character LCD screen.

Physically, the FX-750P features a calculator-style keypad and user interface with function, alpha, and directional keys that allow code entry, navigation, and editing. The display shows four 24-character lines, and it includes a Sweep memory output for viewing variables and program control flow. A Shift key door provides access to special commands and symbols common in BASIC routines.

The device supports up to 240 lines of BASIC code, with structured commands like IF…THEN, GOTO, and FOR…NEXT loops. It includes built-in mathematical and string functions (such as SIN, COS, EXP, LEFT\$, and RIGHT\$), display control commands (PRINT, INPUT, CLS), and input/output operations (including PAUSE, BEEP, and optional CA-1 cassette unit for program storage). Many users still appreciate it for its long battery life—powered by four AAA cells—and practical form factor that blends scientific calculation and programming in one portable package.
